SKEET

Currently due to noise restrictions we are unable to shoot competition skeet.  We are shooting practice targets only on some club days from station 1 to 5 only.

Shot over eight stations in a half circle formation between two towers.  Single targets are released from each House and then a simultaneous pair of targets, except for the final station, where only singles are presented. While the targets are consistent in speed and angle, the different angle of presentation from each station provides the challenge.

DTL

Shot over five stations in a line formation, with targets fanning from the Trap House situated above ground level and 15m in front of the shooter stations. The targets offered are consistent in speed and range though presented in random angles ranging between a straight line out from Station One and Station Five. Various DTL disciplines are shot, the basics are:  Single Rise (or DTL) - Two shots per target. Single Barrel - One shot per target.

Point Score - As for Single Rise, but with 3 points for a first shot break and 2 for a second shot break. Double Rise - Two standard targets are released simultaneously on a consistent speed and trajectory.

Ball Trap - Shot over five stations in a line formation, with targets fanning from the Trap House that is below ground and 15m in front of the shooter stations. The targets offered are consistent in speed but present a full and extreme range through random angles and heights

COMPAK

This is shot over five stations in a line formation.  A series of traps are set around the competitor to enable a wide range of target types, speeds, angles and combinations to be presented.  We will continue to hold our annual Duckshooters event in March/April of each year and will be based on Compak targets with the field spread throughout our approved shooting area.

SPORTING

Unfortunately, due to our Resource Consent restrictions on where we are able to shoot from, and shot fall arcs - we are no longer able to offer Sporting shooting events as we have previously presented at our Club grounds.  Sporting Club Championships are held annually on a modified compak layout.

This discipline allows a wider range of targets and combinations as the course is set over a series of different Stations around a longer circuit (usually from 500m to 1km in length). The targets are usually intended to represent game shooting in their presentation, be it angle, speed, combination or size, such as duck, pheasant, quail or rabbit patterns of behavior.
